We had some sort of fancy Selectric Displaywriter in the typing lab of my
high school in 1972.  It did proportional fonts, superscripts, margin
justification, and other such things.  Its output looked like it came from
a print shop.

There was just one of them, and we were told not to fuck with it, but when
the teacher was out of the room (frequently) I couldn't resist.
