G'day David!

I can't say I ever really noticed this problem before (I'll explain why),

but now that you mention it I see what you mean.

I don't think the "%L" command is broken, per se, it just isn't
updated all

the time - although issuing the command itself should be enough to update

receive level.

I found that the "%L" is only updated after a
"AT&V" command is issued, and

then is not updated again until another "AT&V" command is
issued. Note,

this value is held even after the modem has been switched off!

I tried "%L" after the "&V" command in several
different circumstances and

here's what I got...

 050 - After power-up

 049 - Off-hook ("H1")

 017 - During self-test ("&T1")

 023 - During a 28800 bps V.34 (LAP-M/V.42bis) connection

Here's mine FWIW...

I will be mentioning this to NetComm ASAP - it should work better than this!

If you want to tell someone at NetComm who can actually do something about

it, e-mail mattr{at}netcomm.com.au (Matt Rothschild). He's in Technical

Services and he liaises with NetComm's R&D on such matters.
