Better to have Melanie Smith talking non-stop, in my humble opinion. 
 If she doesn't, that means Jim Simpson will come in to fill the 'dead 
air'.  And the stuff which Simpson says to fill time is truly awful. 
 Somebody could be going through the toughest portion of the course, 
and Jim will start blathering about the size of the crowd that showed up to 
see showjumping, or whatever else comes into his empty little mind.  I too 
was yelling at the TV, but only to say "Shut Up, Jim".
