Hello Michael,

At the terminal screen type ATM0 then AT&W
The first tells the modem to keep the speaker off.
The second command saves your new setting to the NVRAM memory.
BTW, If you type AT&V before you change anything you will see the
current setting for your speaker (L = volume and M = control).
