Funny name for a modem, but I digress...

Correct. Almost 100% consistent 28800 connects to the Courier.

The Viper would always connect, albeit at a lower link rate, either
24000bps or 26400bps, but the M34F was normally only connecting at
26400/NONE or 28800/NONE (and even then, only around 20% of the time)
unless the lesser link rate of 26400bps was forced from my end, following
which it would connect with LAPM almost every time without fail.

He has major problems with a Maestro 9600SE too, if I recall correctly.

Since fitting the V.34+ 33k6bps EPROM to my Sportster, I have made
somewhere between 30-40 calls to Paul's M34F, and with the exception of
just one which connected at 26400/28800/LAPM, all others have connected at
full speed, and with error correction. In addition, a troublesome Hayes
Optima is now also connecting without problems at full speed, so I feel
reasonably confident that my problem has now been resolved.

Regards, Bill
