| subject: | SmartModem M34F AutoAnswer Prob. |
Hi George, [Thus spake George Ashton unto All:] GA> I am running Win95. I have recently installed the ?latest Netcomm GA> drivers for Win95/M34F. I now have a problem (which didn't exist .INF files *aren't* drivers. Most (if not all modems) use the standard Win 95 comms stuff e.g. comm.drv, unimodem.vxd. The modem's .INF file tells Win 95 what the AT commands are for that particular modem e.g. what's autoanswer etc. GA> before) of my modem being left in the autoanswer mode after using any GA> comms prog. (well Win95 specific). My modem's default is autoanswer GA> off. Even trying to switch AA off from within a comms prog. does not GA> work and I either have to switch the modem off and on again or send a GA> command via DOS. Is their a bug in the new drivers?? Probably not a bug in the Win 95 comms drivers but something stuffed up in the Registry. You can check the Registry to see whether Win 95 has got the proper AT commands registered for your modem. Fire up regedit.exe. Go to My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Modem\0000 (If you have more than one modem, the correct key could be 0001, 0002 etc) To check whether your autoanswer settings are correct, check the Reset field in the 0000 key, and check the appropriate fields in the various subkeys under 0000. Needless to say, be careful when you're making changes to the Registry. Sunny ... Trespassers will be shot. Survivors shot again. --- GEcho 1.11+* Origin: Computropolis BBS * Sydney Australia * +61-2-545-0186 (3:712/407) SEEN-BY: 50/99 78/0 620/243 624/200 300 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 932 SEEN-BY: 711/934 712/407 504 515 517 624 628 632 800 801 808 834 941 713/888 SEEN-BY: 714/906 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 712/407 515 711/808 809 934 |
