You will also find a difference in proof of ownership to qualify for
revisions or up-grades. Here are some examples:
I wanted to up-grade my WordPerfect. One place required that I return either
the cover of my doc manual or disk 1, another would accept a photocopy and
the maker already knew who I was, just send the $$$
Well the above examples apply to almost all makers of software including MSI.
Another item is that if you order direct from the maker you are already
pre-registered and do not need to return that pesky warranty card as well as
getting the freshest product. The only drawback is the S&H and the mail
return which can be reduced with a charge card and difference levels of
shipment types like FedX next day air at $12 or more.
