In a message from JOSEPH to ALL about Books on initialisation s

JB>Hi all

JB>I am trying to understand how to correctly place the different
JB>parameters that make up an initialisation string for a modem.

JB>Can anyone recommend a book?

JB>I have read the manual that can with the modem I have borrowed, and
JB>whilst it tells me waht each parameter means/what it does, I have no
JB>idea if it is necessary to ensure certain ones go first.

JB>As far as trying to work out an init string for this modem (Dataplex
JB>225 V.34) is it just a matter of putting in those parameters that it
JB>does not default to?
JB>I find the whole thing confusing!!

JB>I was hoping that someone could let me know about a book that help
JB>one to understand init strings. Some of the ones in Dymocks etc
JB>tell you all about how modems work but ignore the init string part.

JB>I'm starting to think it's one of the black arts!!

Most Modems should come with a nice info booklet.
I know the three I have are very dricriptive in what they tell you.
