Buried within the Apple II software collection I inherited, I found two
instances of AOL for the enhanced Apple II computers. I've repackaged the
diskettes into both ShrinkIt archives and Disk2File emulator disk images. 
While I'm not sure these can actually be used to connect with today's AOL
service, they might prove interesting from a historical perspective. 

One set of packages is from a 5.25" 140KB diskette for ProDOS-8 machines
(8-bit Apple //e, //c, and IIc+). It was the "flippy" kind of diskette
where AOL 1.0 was on one side and RabbitJack's Casino 1.0 and ShrinkIt
2.1a (copyright by Andy Nicholas) were on the other.  This diskette
appears to have been released by the originator's of the AOL service,
Quantum Computer Services, Inc. 

I also found a 3.5" 800KB diskette containing the AOL-branded version of
the above AOL only software. America Online 1.22 also contains added files
for Apple IIgs use, such as ProDOS-16 and a few other GS only files. When
I try to boot this disk up in my Apple //c, it tells me I need GS
hardware. Fear not Apple //e, //c, or IIc+ users, by searching through the
directory tree, I found the AO.SYSTEM file that will allow this disk to
work with a ProDOS-8 machine already booted with ProDOS. 

This is just my first foray into the Apple II software I've inherited. 
The rest of the collection is various issues of the Software of the Month
Club, I can't wait to see what else is there. :)
