I use AB+ without a blocking list. An external one, I mean. I
write my own rules.
And I put this in my hosts file
127.0.0.1 notification.adblockplus.org
To stop AdBlock Plus from phoning home and maintaining an
encrypted connection. I have updates and all lists disabled, there is
no reason why it should do that.
