This Echo is READ ONLY ! NO Un-Authorized Messages Please! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Flight 157 November 22: Ariane 5's payloads are in the spotlight The dual satellite payload for Arianespace's upcoming "10 ton" Ariane 5 mission were in the spotlight as the logos for both spacecraft were applied to the launcher's payload fairing. Launch team members applied the logo for Eutelsat - which will operate the HOTBIRDTM 7 satellite, as well as the symbol for France's Stentor telecom demonstrator - which was developed in a joint program involving the CNES space agency, the French DGA defense procurement agency and France Telecom. The first flight for Arianespace's 10-ton Ariane 5 will once again demonstrate the heavy-lift vehicle's ability to deploy a dual payload. HOTBIRDTM 7 is installed in the upper position atop Ariane 5 and will be released first, followed by deployment of Stentor from the lower payload location. Preparations continue for the November 28 liftoff of Flight 157, which will mark the 11th Arianespace mission of 2002. In parallel, the launch campaign is moving ahead for the next Ariane 5 mission - which is set for January 2003 with the European Space Agency's Rosetta comet-chasing satellite on Flight 158. - End of File - ================ ---* Origin: SpaceBase[tm] Vancouver Canada [3 Lines] 604-473-9357 (1:153/719) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 153/719 715 7715 140/1 106/2000 1 379/1 633/267 |
