BB> > It gets "ignored" you have to read from disk BB> You lost me, Jasen. A file is a file. You append to it, BB> it gets longer. Only the portion known to be the executable portion, as defined in the file header, is loaded into memory. The remainder is ignored when the program is loaded. I have a little ANSI interpreter which I compiled, noted the size of, and then recompiled with the size of the .EXE included as the point at which to begin reading the file for .ANS information. You can use a binary append to attach any .ANS file to it, and when it runs, it opens itself and reads the ansi data and outputs it to the screen without the benefit of ANSI.SYS being installed. I appended all my ansi graphics files, which total well over the 590K or so my system has free, and it runs quite well. Only the actual .exe code data is read into the system memory. > ]* Origin: *YOPS ]I[* 8.4 GIG * RA/FD/FE * Milwaukee, WI (1:154/750) SEEN-BY: 396/1 632/0 371 633/260 267 270 371 634/397 635/506 728 810 639/252 SEEN-BY: 670/218 @PATH: 154/750 222 396/1 633/260 635/506 728 633/267 |
