subject: Caller ID...

While listening to John Wolski Pete heard:Caller ID...

G'day John

JY> I'm doing pretty much what it says in the manual, but it still
 JY> doesn't work..

PC> Well as we don't yet have caller ID here in australia i don't
PC> think you've got much hope of getting it to work.

JW> We don't have Caller ID at the moment. However, I am lead to
JW> believe that Telstra ARE able to use Caller ID on most AXE
 JW> (digital) exchanges.

Your quite correct in fact i'm lead to believe that extra hardware was
required to block the CID info from being sent out.

JW> However, it does not do so due to privacy and legal issues.

I've heard the same thing.

JW> I am also lead to believe that a decision on transmitting the
JW> caller ID will be made in the next 2 to 3 weeks.

I knew a decision was being made shortly but wasn't aware of the time
frame, hmm 2 to 3 weeks you say, sounds good.
