Ujie, in this case, John WAS correct in making the statement, yes- but I
agree with you that he SHOULD corroborate his comments by providing proof.
Num 6:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either
man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to
separate themselves unto the LORD: Num 6:3 He shall separate himself from
wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of
strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist
grapes, or dried. Num 6:4 All the days of his separation shall he eat
nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk.
Num 6:5 All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor
come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth
himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the
hair of his head grow.
Regarding women covering their hair, as I mentioned to Phlogeus: 1Co 11:15
But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given
her for a covering.
The fact that nature has provided woman, and not man, with long hair,
proves that man was designed to be uncovered, and woman covered. The
Nazarite, however, wore long hair lawfully, as being part of a vow
sanctioned by God (Num_6:5). Compare as to Absalom, 2Sa_14:26, and
Act_18:18.
Hope this helps explain the concept, but yes, if John makes the statement,
he should inded provide facts to back them up.
