Depends on what the dealer or who you bought it from put in.  I bought
a SL-D2 (note the D) and they virtully threw in an Audio Technica
cartridge which I changed to a Sure v15 type IV.  Sounded a lot better
too. :-)  (it was a cheap cartridge that was in there).
As long as the cartridge weight and tracking force/antiskate are within
the capabilities of the table, there should be no problems putting in
what you like, either moving coil or magnetic.  DEFINITLY not a ceramic
cartridge!
