Can anyone here tell me how I might be able to configure my front door
program to use the internet to get mail packets vs. using a phone
line.
I have SIO & Vmodem, with Vmodem connected to COM3. My phone line
modem is connected to COM2.
I can use the Vmodem path to connect to distant BBS using the internet
by running my DOS program (Qmodem TD 4.52) connected to COM3 and using
a phone number of the type "123.456.789.51" for the remote BBS.
Things work pretty much the same as on a straight dial up connection
using Qmodem TD on the phone line to a local BBS.
What I have not been able to figure out is how to make my front end
mailer (which is InterMail) use the same sort of connection. IM does
things off of the nodelist, which has phone numbers in it. I tried
making up a private nodelist with the 4D internet numbers in place of
the phone numbers, but nothing happens when I try to connect. Clearly
I am doing something wrong, or missing a critical step.
Can anyone give some suggestions that might help IM work over my
Internet line on COM3?
