Obviously, this isn't implemented in the M34F in that case; if it was,
then no matter what the starting level was, the modem would change to the
better level eventually. My tests are proving opposite. :-(

Bill (our long-suffering USR Sportster user) reckons upgrading the EPROM in
his modem has had a positive effect. Only time will tell, I guess.
