Hi! All, Well, 21st century technology just dawned on me. A few short hours ago I pulled a Seagate Barracuda 160Gb SATA drive out of my eldest daughter's old Dell PC. It's the first SATA drive I've ever seen close up. :) I'm getting stuck for HDD space in my Dell, you see. The usage is up to 80%, so my Conky stats gauge tells me. I've just been having too much fun with it over the last two & half years. There's only about 98gigs left and I've got this itchy feeling down my spine; a nervous thing connected with the idea that drive space will run out. Which is why I cracked the case on the old Dell. I'm all set to plug the Barracuda in as a secondary to the original as-installed primary, but I looked & looked for a reference 'legend' for the master/slave jumper settings: t'ain't none! What! All the docs say is that they're full-on plug-n-pray. What! This sorta runs counter to all of my previous PC experience. I'm on unsteady ground here... Can this true? One just plugs in the new drive and off you go?!? Can someone offer some calming words of wisdom on the matter, please? Cheers, Paul. ...
