Two questions:
Why is it that almost all national computer retailers offer mail in
rebates rather then reduced prices? I cannot walk into a Best Buy,
CompUSA, Computer City store, etc w/o finding hundreds of items with
these types of rebates. Other stores have sales. Only thing I can think
of is that the manufactures/retail stores get to use your money for
30-60 days. Any other reasons?
On that note, I have a problem with some of the "addresses" given to
mail these rebates to. "$20 Rebate Offer", "$50 Hard Drive Rebate
Plan"... why don't I just address it to "Steal me, I'm worth $xx to
anyone who opens this letter and changes my name/address"? Other then
it's too long to fit on the envelope.
