American car companies are building cars in Europe, Hungary at least. Ford
and Chrysler at least. Just as Japanese cars are being built in Europe and
I wouldn't be surprised if in the US as well. The reason is not
"Social Democrat" past, but more likely that it's cheaper to
manufacture cars where they will be sold, saving the shipping costs.

And as far as I understand, the social democrat thing is not just past but
present and future as well.

Gary, the problem with Europe is that they're still stuck with their
"Social Democrat" past--especially the very heavy government
social spending. The result is high taxes and an employment rate on average
about 80-100% the US rate. Ouch.

Is it small wonder why European auto companies are building cars in North
America (Volkswagen in Mexico, BMW in South Carolina, and Mercedes-Benz in
Alabama)?
