I have recently purchased PB 3.1 though I am an experienced
programmer. I have been very pleased with the product.
I have just started subscribing to this echo so my apologies if
this is an "old chestnut" ;-) Recently I have attempted to use
its feature to turn a program into a TSR. It works fine and was
quite easy but I seem to be having one problem. Neither my
program that I am working on, the example TSR programs, nor
the ones from the PB/Xtra package I also own that I tried when I
encountered this problem seem to unload. Using the DOS "MEM"
command I can see the "footprint" of the TSR when I run it and
if I activate the hot key it pops up fine. However when I use
the "exit" option which I think is supposed to cause the TSR to
unload it does not do so. It ceases responding to the hot key
but the MEM command still shows the footprint as being resident.
Further testing using the function to determine if the TSR is
capable of being unloaded shows it gets back a status of "not
unloadable" so from that perspective the behaviour I'm observing
makes sense ;-) I realize that if I install a TSR and then put
others in "on top of it" the first one can't be unloaded but as
far as I can see this is not the case. I can invoke the program
from DOS, then immediately attempt to uninstall it and it won't
go. Any suggestions? Is there an undocumented trick to this or
something unique to my system which for the record is:
DOS 6.2
QEMM 7.0x (unstealthed)
VESA bus 486/66 DX
