BG>Hi Keith!
Howdy do!
BG> While I agree that some digital audio is quite strident and irritating,
BG>careful use of the engineering can have excellent results even with
BG>44.1k sampling rates and 16 bits of resolution. I use that and 48k
BG>sampling rates on my DAW system and DAT recorders.
I've heard that good A/D and D/A convertors make a lot of difference.
BG>I have also heard and appreciate having better resolution and more bits.
BG>While I'm not convinced that 24 bits and 96k sampling rates are needed
BG>or necessary, I do like the current AES/EBU which works out to 20 bits
BG>and those extra 4 bits do sound much better.
Not to mention that those of you in the biz would have to get
new toys. When I was in video, I never bought equipment 'cuz
two years later it was obsolete. I knew a guy who bought $150,000
in broadcast 3/4" stuff, and six months later everybody wanted
Betacam.
