Have spoken to someone else today who suggested same thing - but is a
bit weird isn't it? In my experience they either do not talk to the
port or the link at the other end of the line or talk in garbage - they
do not stop in the middle of a step!
AM>Try using X3 in the dial string for fax operation if that is
AM>possible.
Tried X3 for comms and fax - same result, while I was at it, tried X0,
X1, X2 as well (Init string had X4). Also tried init string/settings
used in Telix - same result. Get the feeling that perhaps something is
missing:
ME init string - AT&FX4&E1&E4&E13S7=60S0=1E1$BA0^M
TELIX init string - ATZ^M~~~ATS7=45S0=2V1X4^M~
Does anything jump out and hit you in the eye?
AM>I have used the Multi-tech MT2834ZDX, but haven't experienced
AM>dial-tone detection failure and haven't used the Multiexpress
AM>software.
My model MT2834ZDXI- Now comes with MultiExpress for Windows as a
package - contains 1.MultiExpress Terminal, 2.MultiExpress Fax, 3.VDM
(Virtual Modem Driver - will answer incoming calls and depending on type
launch approp s/ware). 1. and 2. work independently or can be
configured to work with 3. Have tried all combinations - still no go.

Since putting up the msg have been back to my supplier who has bought
one for his own use - Told him I would call again in a week and see how
he got his working. Otherwise he can slog it out with the distributor!

If we manage to solve it will let you know the answer - we can all add
it to our 'problem scrapbooks'

Thanks for your help Arthur, regards Jeanette
