On 02-13-98, DAVID HARTUNG declared to MIKE ANGWIN:
DH> There is much good to be said about privatizing the education system,
DH> the only reservation I have is that there are some kids whose parents
DH> caouldn't afford to pay for an education, how would we(or would we, for
DH> that matter) ensure these kids access to to an education?
Plenty of kids' parents can't afford to pay for a college or university
education either. Do you think WE should ensure everybody gets one? If
so, then to what extent? ... 2 year certificate? ... BA degree? ...
Doctorate? ... on what basis? What's the difference between that and
elementary thru high school education being the entitlement government
has made of it?
AFAIC, the way to handle it is the way it was done before any government
involvement ever existed.
