My husband's experience in France was more like yours. He attempted to
speak French; and found the Parisians more than willing to help him out.

contemporary native opinion. They want to hear only this wonderful
noble native religious stuff. I know, from long experience, how hard
it is to get angry Indian poetry published in white poetry magazines;
but I bet I wouldn't have any trouble getting some mystical Indian stuff
published.
