Hi, Matrika! I have seen what you are talking about happen in a few groups
that I have gone to. The most blatant of them actually folded because one
bossy old-timer had to have everything go his way and actually kicked people
out that did not do what he wanted. He even called the cops on me and my
then husband, because I told him that you couldn't kick ANYONE out of an AA
meeting (especially when they were sober), but he did anyway. Some people
got drunk, another group started and this group folded (not to mention that
they were breaking ANOTHER tradition about taking outside contributions). He
would not let the traditions be posted, and if anyone suggested having a
business or traditions meeting, he would kick them out, too. But guess what
happened, some of the group FINALLY kicked him out, and closed the doors of
the meeting and went somewhere else. I would find somewhere else to go, if
you could, and let them have the 'un-serenity'. Bill and Bob knew what they
were talking about, they had tried alot of things that failed. The
traditions are for the continuation of AA as we know it. Don't fret too much,
though, the groups that don't abide by the traditions will slowly snuff
themselves out. Find a group with winners that believe and FOLLOW the
tradtions!!!!! Then you can't go wrong!!
Love ya,
Mary
