if that still doesn't work, it's an excellent indication of a broken perl
install. tom c. has gone to good deal of trouble to make sure that perl
doc's are complete an easily available and installed properly in the
initial perl installation.

last thing to look at is perl\site\lib. you'd have to go into each .pl and
.pm though to get a version number...

if perldoc perllocal doesn't work, i'd seriously consider reinstalling
(first from mandrake, then from an rpm) at that point you might want to
install the activestate version. ppm makes it a breeze to search, install,
and query perl modules...
