Here's another quirk (it's not a bug, honest) to watch out for in
Word6:
You're Edit.Finding for a string preceded by a paragraph mark.
Your search sting is "^pmystring". You are only interested in
occurrences of "mystring" that have not yet been identified.
(Identification involves, for us, applying a paragraph style - if
I've recognised some text, I'll style it to show that I've seen
and processed it).
You decide that specifying a Format style of "Normal" is
appropriate in the Find box, since any occurrence of "mystring"
that is still in the Normal style hasn't yet been recognised.
The Find fails when "mystring" does appear in Normal style but
is preceded by a paragraph that has already been styled
otherwise. The "^p" that is found has some style other than
Normal applied, and so does not satisfy the search.
It's not a bug, really, but it's frustrating. The only solution I
have to date is to have a macro loop and examine each occurrence
of "^pmystring" on an individual basis, as in:
OK, I've found "^pmystring", now, forgetting the "^p" for
the time being, is the "mystring" in Normal style? yes,
then .....
