Maybe even the leadership at Disney themselves. .
Whatever means we can use to get the word out is good.
The thing that bugs me about the Disney/Magoo thing is this.
You wouldn't see them do the same thing with black folks, or many
other minorities, as they're too afraid of the bottom line.
We don't matter enough, I guess, in their minds. We've gotta hit 'em
hard, and hopefully in the pocketbook, to get their attention.
We'll draw plenty of flames, because picking on Walt and
company is akin to picking on mom and Apple pie, other good stuff, to
a lot of these folks.
I'm for picking hard and causing them some financial trouble, by any
means necessary. My feelings toward disney leaned toward dislike
before, now it's to the point where dislike has turned to other
things.
They laugh off our resolution and tell us Magoo is just
"nearsighted." THey still stand to make a lot of money, and
perpetuate a harmful stereotype to boot.
It's time for war. Usenet is a good start, but we need more.
We need to find a way to be financially injurious to Disney.
I'll do whatever I can to help that end come about.
It really aggravates me that even our postal service is selling Disney
crappola in post offices now.
Usenet is a start, but most of the people we'll reach there are fans,
and like all those cutesy Disney things.
put on your asbestos suits, and flood that newsgroup with anti-magoo
articles. Still, we're not going far enough, as the movie will be
released anyway.
Again,I ask, would they release another Amos 'n Andy? We all know
they wouldn't. The big question is why, and I think we know the
answer. The answer is fear.
The execs at Disney wouldn't be able to hire enough security, or even
rest easy in their beds at night.
Fear is a powerful motivator, but when you must stoop to that level,
you don't win anything. However, economics are a powerful motivator
also, and we need a way to hit those bastards in their wallets!
The stereotype is too injurious to us, and we can't afford the fallout
from that movie.
Regards,
