If I've got this right: Word6 fails in its Edit Replace function
when the document holds some white space, then a paragraph mark
followed by a table.
Word finds the search string "^w^p" (White space followed by a
Paragraph mark), but does NOT effect the replacement string "^p".
To see the effect:
Start a new document
Tap the spacebar (white space)
Tap the Enter key (paragraph mark)
Choose Table, Insert, conform (Table)
Ctrl-Home, Shift-Ctrl-End (select the entire document)
Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V, Ctrl-V, Ctrl-V (duplicate the stuff)
then
Edit Replace
search string: ^w^p
replace string: ^p
replace All.
You'll probably see NO Change in your document.
