Greetings:
I have questions about setting up a small home office LAN under Win95.
Here are the facts of my case:
Two nodes - both Win95, both with ISA 10mbs Katron NE2000+ Compatible
combo cards. 10BASE-2 cabling (that _is_ the 50ohm coax, right?).
Both "tees" and both terminators will be installed.
I simply want to share files & printers on both nodes. Perhaps later,
much later, I'll want to use modems (both of which are on one node)
from the other. Much later. Then there's WinGate - but that's
for the same "much later" day...
Right now, reliable & speedy file & print sharing is my golden ring.
Questions:
1> Do I need to use BNC "tees" and terms, or since it's a two-node
network can I simply hook the cards straight to oppisite ends of the
cable?
2> What protocol should I use in Control Panel > Networking? I've
already got TCP/IP installed to DUN. Does that have any effect on my
protocol decision?
3> When I begin looking to share modems, what will road do I follow?
How will that be affected by my choices now?
4> Anyone with any knowledge of WinGate, speak up!
Regards (and thanks for your time),
Tim ==
