Whilst at a peace talk about PCM coding, President John Gardeniers said to

I've had arguments like that before - a technician telling me that our 5kHz
phone lines couldn't handle anything more than 9600bps.  Really?  I thought
our lines were only 3.3kHz at best?  And now we have modems screaming along
at 33.6kbps...  where does it stop?
