-> Why RIP isn't one of the factors in Saving BBS'S Because perhaps the idea wasn't brought forward for consideration and discussion? Overlooked? -> is it the fact there are not many RIP Terms out there. There aren't many RIP screens out there, because the idea of having vector graphics in BBSes was forgotten since the WWW and flash "took over". -> The biggest problem I see with newbies, who weren't around in the -> heyday, is that they don't want to type. That's partially true. I was BBsing from 1989-1995. And then from 2009 till today :( I like both. Sometimes I like/liked ANSI, while sometimes I liked RIP. -> They want to point and click. Why Rip isn't or wouldn't help them. True, today's generation is point-and-click. Put any youngster in a traditional ANSI BBS, and just watch the expression of his face. Repeat the same test with RIP. Many tools are available to promote BBSes to younger and older generations. We just have, at one point, be open-minded. It's all it takes. HOWEVER, I believe that High Rez and mouse navigation RIP graphics for BBS were overlooked, more than anything else. BUT, it's never too late! Its not that RIP won't help the younger generation. To the contrary, it will/may, but we have to give it a second chance! and for those who like ANSI, great! leave that option too! --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Doc's Place BBS Fido Since 1991 docsplace.tzo.com (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/250 18/200 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 140/1 222/2 226/0 SEEN-BY: 236/150 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1411 1418 SEEN-BY: 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/104 260 267 285 690/682 734 SEEN-BY: 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 303 2905/0 @PATH: 123/140 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
