subject: Home Office and Inventions

Most inventions of great significance were conceieved at home, or in the case
of the laser in a hotel. There are so many stories about inventions and we
read and hear different versions of it. So bear with me if some examples I
picked up are different from what you know.
Xerox copy was invented by a patent attorney who offered it to Kodak. They
turned it down, stating, who wants to make so many copies.
Laser technology was invented by a guy in a hotel, and he notarized it at a
ligour store across the street, and that helped him secure his eventual
patent.
The rotary dial phone and automatic switchboard was invented by an
undertaker,
who lost a stiff or burial job due to a loose lip operator.
Monopoly was invented by an unemployed engineer who had no where to go and
stayed home a lot.
The ocean container was invented by a guy who wanted to get home in time for
dinner and just didn't like waiting for his truck to be unloaded. He then
invented a detachable container, doing most of the work off the kitchen table
at home. He never made a dime for his invention...
I would like to hear other stories you may have of home based inventors.
There
should be lots of them. Some of the best ideas were either concieved at home,
or outright built in the garage or spare room.
