  It has Very limited range but does work. As an example some of the people 
that live at Boat slips get together and one subscribes to cable. They take 
the output of the Cable feed as it comes in and feed it to an antenna instead 
of hte cable box. Then everybody is a 1/4 mile or so can just pick up the 
signals on their Rabbit Ear antennas.  Slightly ILEGAL here in the US but 
there is some use for passive systems. But For any really practical use a 
system of Frequency shifting and amplification must be used.
