subject: old motor decals

BG>I am restoring an old Johnson Sea Horse and I am wondering if anyone
BG>has any Idea where to get the decals for the side of the engine shroud.
What is the "Exact" year & horsepower of the engine.
If you're not absolutely sure, there is a plate located on the transom
bracket that lists the "Model & Serial" number. These numbers are also
located on a core plug on the powerhead (Looks like a small freeze out
plug) that is about the size of a quarter. Write back with the "Model"
number.
BG>Also I am looking for the electrical hook-up to the motor. I'm looking
BG>for leads and I'll take it from there. Thanks!!!
BG>Also does anyone know the paint schemes they used on johnsons in the
BG>late 60's or could you get them to match the boat colors???
Same comment holds true...need the exact Year & Hp, or model number!
Preferably the model number to avoid any mistakes.
The 1960 model was white, 1961 to at least 1965 (The exact year escapes
me as I'm not looking at the books right now), were a mixture of white &
french silver, then OMC changed to tropic green, then forest green, then
in later years reverting back to various shades of white.
The color scheme is listed in the front of the parts book which most OMC
(Johnson/Evinrude) have. The dealer will also have the spray paint
available in pressurized cans, or will order it for you. Be sure to use
the reccommended "Zink Chromate" (Green) primer before applying the
final color...as not other primer will do the job correctly.
Hope this is of some help to you. I'll check farther if you like,
but will need that model number.
Joe
