They started ceasing in Acts 7.   In Acts 7, the Nation of Israel rejects
Stephen's testimony.  If this nation's  response had been repentance (Acts
3:19), Daniel's Seventieth Week could have been a reality.  If you look at
verse 55, you will read  Jesus was not sitting, but standing.  He was ready
to come! At that time all prophecy could have been fulfilled.  There would
have been the Rapture (Ps. 50:4; Song of Solomon 2:10, Isa. 26:19), there
could have been the signing of the covenant between Rome and Israel  (Dan.
9:27; 11:27,30), and from the pit would have come the devil (Gen. 3:15,
John 6:70 and Acts 1:25).
However the National response was rejection.  And since then there is no
record of one single miracle ever taking place again IN JERUSALEM
by the Apostles who stayed  there.  Signs still in effect?
Ignorant unsaved people and ignorant babes in Christ are taught that they
should practice the Apostolic Signs because they were exercised throughout
the New Testament era.  That is a lie! The Apostolic Signs were coming to an
end with the last apostle, Paul.  If the Apostolic Signs were practiced
throughout the New Testament, then why did Paul leave his friend Throphimus
sick at Miletum (2 Tim. 5:20)?  Why couldn't Paul heal his own infirmities
(2 Cor. 11:30; 12:5-10), or at least have one of the other Apostles try since
they had the "gift of healing?" (By the way, some of our Charismatic brethren
would deny Paul of any "actual infirmities." Poor Paul, to be like the modern
day Charismatic, simply had "problems.")
Also, why would Paul say, "Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for
thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities" (1 Tim. 5:23)? Now here is a
man where people got rid of diseases and evil spirits by their handkerchiefs
and aprons touching the body of Paul (Acts 19:12) What about raising the
dead?  Remember Eutychus?  And then he comes along and tells someone to take
a little wine for a sick tummy?  What happened, Paul?  Now tell me, why
all this sickness if the Apostolic Signs were still in effect? There is not
one proof text of scripture to support the idea that the signs had been
practiced throughout the New Testament.  This just proves what great lengths
people go to to try and pervert the word of God.
The fact is, the signs were fading and finally gone. We must remember that
these signs were a necessity in the early ministry of these Apostles for the
sole purpose of "CONFIRMING THE TRUTH TO ISRAEL (Heb. 2:3-4).
We have a constant, deliberate rejection, and in some cases, plain ignorance
by the Assemblies of God, Pentecostals, Charismatics, Roman Catholics, Full
Gospel Fellowships, etc., who continually neglect 1 Corinthians 1:22 which
tells us the SIGNS are for the JEWS.  Thumb through your Scriptures and you
will find Israel BEGAN with signs (Rom. 4:11; Exodus. 4:8,9, 17, 23, 28, 20;
7:3; 8:23; 10:1-2; 13:9; 31:13,17; Duet. 4:34; 6:22), they LIVED by signs
(Duet.. 11:18; Jos. 4:6; 1 Sam.10:7; 2 Kings 19:29; Isa. 7:14; 38:7, 22;
Ezekiel. 4:3; 20:12,20), and they also DEMANDED signs from Christ (Matt.
12:38; 24:3).
Do I believe God still does miracles and healing?  I would be a fool if I
said no.  My Bible tells me God can heal anyone (James 5).  My Bible also
tells me God can heal those who lack faith (Mark 6:5-6).   But we should
have enough discernment not to confuse "ANSWERED PRAYERS (1 John 5:14) with
"APOSTOLIC SIGNS" (2 Cor. 12:12).  If you claim to have the Apostolic Signs,
then my Bible calls you a liar!  (Rev. 2:2)
Not all miracles come from God.  Satan is a great counterfeiter.  He is
also "Charismatic" according to 2 Thessalonians 2:9.  As I said previously,
these Pentecostal, Charismatic brethren are helping  pave the way for the
coming antichrist.  He too, comes with "Apostolic Signs," with "all power and
signs and lying wonders."  The deception has happened and deceived people
will follow after him (2 Thess. 2:8-12, Rev. 13:13-14.).
However, the world will also be faced with only TWO witnesses with GENUINE
SIGNS (Rev. 11:3-6) . Signs. Signs. Signs.  And guess who God is mainly
dealing with in the Tribulation? JEWS JEWS JEWS JEWS JEWS!
Okay, so what about the "unknown tongues?" Aside from Acts chapter 2, 1
Corinthians 14 is the cornerstone for the unknown tongue speakers. Despite
the fact that nowhere in the New Testament is anyone ever commanded by God
to speak in unknown tongues, people mislead others to seek this gift as a
sign as proof that they have been baptized in the Holy Spirit. Again, the
Apostolic Signs were for the unbelieving Jews in the first century, which
CONFIRMED the word of God (Heb. 2:3-4).  And the word of God shows us that
these signs are spoken of in the PAST TENSE (2 Cor. 12:12; Heb. 2:3-4).
