First - Those biscuits taste terrible :-) I found some really nice light
Mahagony marine plywood to use for my 15" scope, on the down side it
is cored with what looks like balsa wood, not to strong. So I bevel and
glued it at the corners and then make an internal frame of 1x1 maple at the
corners, making a cube. Plus the addition of a top and bottom panel of the
light ply. It is still lighter than a comparable box make of the same
thickness birch ply box. and the Mahogany looks great :-) I also used it
for the top cage.
Three rings of the ply with 8 uprights and then the spaces between the
lower upright filled with more of the ply. With the topcage dry fitted
together I could pick it up and shake it with out it coming apart. Less
than 2 pound for the assembled top cage before the hardware was
installed(wood only)
