GT> What is the story on "anticmos-a" please.
know what? i've replied to this message before... no, not a message like
this, this EXACT message...
oh well, just in case the reply didn't get through last time...
anticmos (all variants) are bootsector/mbr infectors with a buggy
payload that never runs but is supposed to corrupt the settings in your
cmos memory...
this virus can be removed by just about any worthwhile anti-virus
package... ideally though, virus affected objects should be replaced
from known clean backups (yes, it's possible to backup bootsectors and
mbrs)...

GT> Cant help but wonder if she was not ripped off. What do you think?
i don't think so... anticmos does not usually cause problems accessing
the drive, ergo if she was experiencing that symptom there is a good
chance she had more problems than just anticmos...
... "wheres polonius?"-"he's at supp'... with the worms"...
