subject: A Message From SemWare Support

From: George De Bruin

Editor.)
First: I would like to say a "thank you" to Phil for gating the echo to us.
Second, I would like to give you all a short explanation for our
"disappearance" from the echo.
For well over a year and a half we were seeing very little in the line of
messages in the echo. We made numerous attempts to get the problem
straightened, however it seems that politics and finger pointing left us
without the messages.
Second, last fall we started looking for a way to consolidate our mail
systems within the company into a single distribution. This was in order
to streamline our processing, and make support and tracking easier. We
investigated many different systems for handling the messages, including
numerous BBS style systems. Unfortunately there weren't any systems that
really handled everything that we needed.
To make matters worse, our BBS system became a ghost-town. The number of
callers was way down, and the mail in all of the echo systems was basically
non-existant.
The final blow came when 3 out 4 contact nodes for mail distribution went
offline.
Faced with this situation, we had to focus where our efforts were worth the
most to our customers.
Now with this gateway, we can and will continue to support our users on
FidoNet. And, further, we can make this area available to our InterNet
customers as well in the hopes of strengthening both networks.
