Phil,
I won't address your openion of the Mr. Magoo issue; it's your
openion and you'reentitled to it. I also won't address your assertion that
it is an issue of political correctness, even though I don't agree; it goes
beyond that. What I will address, however is your speculation that all 3000
delegates could not have agreed upon the resolution. I believe the number
was actually closer to 3300, and while there may have been a few dissenting
votes (perhaps a dozen or so if my ears were counting accurately), no one
chose to express that openion when President Maurer invited discussion prior
to the vote. The subsequent vote was overwhelmingly in support of the
resolution. Furthermore, I don't believe any but the nievely optimistic
believe we will affect Disney's decision to produce the movie, but at least
we have drawn public attention to the potential harm to public perceptions,
which will cause people who will ultimately see the movie to pause and
reflect before accepting the negative images presented as accurate.
