My food comes from ADM, you remember them, they are the guys who
genetically engineer plants that can grow 4 times faster in harsher
climates.

More people scare me far more than environmental changes, do you realize
that in the past 100 years the human population has grown by 600%. Having a
new continent like Antartica melt and become inhabitable might just be a
good thing.

I'm not worried about neighbors, I'm worried about how many trees will need
to be cut down to build the houses they are going to buy as the bulk of the
population enters the industrial age. A huge percentage of the air
recycling function of earth takes place in northern climates like Canada
and Russia, if those climates become more desirable we can kiss those
forests goodbye as people cut them down both for lumber and land. That will
happen faster than new forests further north or south can spring up.

I don't see greenhouse gases as the threat, I see the lumber industry as
the threat, their damage is far more quantifiable and proven. A greenhouse
effect that causes plants to grow might be what saves us.
