You mean the man-who-would-have-been C-in-C, who made a degrading comment
about the extant C-in-C, which generated tons of faux outrage from people
who deliberately misinterpreted the statement and tried to twist it as
slamming the troops?

I haven't heard anyone on the left (or right, for that matter) making
"worse" statements about American troops. American political
leaders, yes. Troops, no. So there's no cherry picking involved. Until
this I haven't heard anyone try to blame our doomed-from-the-start strategy
on the grunts in Iraq.

Here's what people on the right and left seem to miss about the fiasco in
Iraq. They all seem to wonder whether the al-Maliki government can stand
together to quell the rampant sectarian violence. Everyone
seems to think that he wants to do so, but lacks the political capital to
do so. You know what I think? I think that he's a Shi'ite who supports
the violence against the Sunnis population. Bush gave Iraq
to the Shi'a population (and hence to Iran) and now they will exact their
revenge, while we are forced to watch helplessly, offering our own people
up as cannon fodder.

The C-in-C has commanded us into a position from which we can't retreat and
can't advance. What do you guys call that in officer
training school?
