The L.A. Daily News reported that the contract is for $250MM for the 5
years, about $1MM per week.  The theory is that the Beckhams already act
like Hollywood types, so this is supposed to make soccer fashionable. Also
reported that some 1000 new season tickets have been sold as a result. 
Then they interviewed residents of Carson (suburb where the stadium is
located), who are mostly black and Filipino, quite a few of whom had never
heard of him.
