I find two things very curious here. One, the TNT2 was at one time the
last series of nVidia card supported directly by IBM's driver downloadable
at the old software update site back when it was still free of charge to
reg'd owners as you probably both know. Back at that time I had a Diamond
Viper TNT2 which ran quite well w/ that driver, though sadly not a real 3D
accelerated support. However more than adequate for standard computing.
So unless your particular brand of TNT2's are considerably altered from
reference (and Diamond back then modded fairly heavily) that driver should
theoretically work altho a few variables now exist.
More importantly tho the snap driver that is available through the web
update software, the last free one, not only works on an old Number Nine
TNT2 but actually worked rather nicely on my GeForce 2. I can't recall if
it worked with my GeForce 6600GT as that is being replaced so I can't check
it right now. I did nothing special during install nor did I customize my
config.sys however errr HOWEVER and this might possibly be the culprit, I
am using a nice Viewsonic CRT. Perhaps your monitor config is the problem
since SNAP has that odd monitor selection/testing section, or perhaps you
have LCD's?
I sincerely hope you get this solved because this is a pet peeve of mine.
The most grave condition affecting my usage and continuation with OS/2 is
the video driver situation. I just can't stomach having to pay 10's of
dollars. for the simplest of svga drivers on newer vidcards. As long as I
have supported numerous versions of OS/2 with my wallet and personal energy
I just can't handle being stuck at 640X480 with a screen that draws visibly
even in just a browser screen with vidcards that are capable of 200+ frames
per second in last generation high demand 3D gaming environments and some
new ones. For now I am reasonably satisfied with the free, limited SNAP
but it remains to be seen what will happen when I move this box to a
7600GT. It may mean I will have to go back to the old dedicated box with
yesteryear hardware instead of enjoying a multi OS box.
I wish I had more and possibly technical data for you but it may help to
temporarily substitute w/ a CRT preferably one with some headroom in the
refresh department until you can get it setup properly.
Best wishes
Jimmy
