Humans will manage no matter what the temperature as long as they can grow
food. Bio-mass is the key to whether that is possible or not and it's also
the function that cleans and replenishes the air supply. Earth does not
make oxygen, plants do.

Wiped out by what, you think the polar ice caps are going to melt overnight
and cause a flash flood or something? What exactly is it that you think is
going to wipe out humans? Shifting weather patterns? A shortage of polar
bear meat and an abundance of Corn (did you miss the record corn crop this
year)?

Both human and animal population centers have moved north and south as the
climate dictates.
