| subject: | [OS2HW] RE: Replacement question |
I have replaced my TEAC CD burner with a Pioneer DVR-111 DVD burner. It is
one of the few burner which can also write DVD-RAM format, which can be used
in conjunction with the UDF drivers.
It was a drop-in replacement and seems to work well (I have not yet tried
all features). The price was 44.70 EUROs, so I could not make a mistake :).
One thing that bothers me: I wrote my OS/2 software download collection on a
DVD-RAM, and later found out that large files often have ZIP-checksum errors.
I will try another bbrand of DVD-RAMs, but they are not very common in the
shops. The best chance to find them is under DVD recorder equipment, not
computers.
