subject: [OS2HW] SATA drives and os2dasd.dmd?

In the never-ending quest for more storage space, I recently bought a 320
GB SATA drive and a Creative I/O controller card, which has a VIA VT6421
chip. If I plug the drive into the card and boot with the eCS 1.2R CD1,
the computer boots to a command prompt and the drive appears in LVM. If I
save the changes and exit, and let the computer boot to the installed
version of 1.2R, the boot hangs for a few minutes at os2dasd.dmd, and then
stops completely at lvm.dmd.

I obviously don't know much about SATA, but I'd like to make it work. The
card was cheap, and was supposedly supported by danis506.add. Does anyone
have experience with getting SATA to work on a PCI card?
