the way I do the LWT its semi automated. You still have to manually move
the wire, but not by a precise amount, just as long as you can measure
how much it moved. On my tester I use a digital indicator that can send
data directly to a computer.
The computer looks at the images from the camera and determines the
position of the shadow. Some simple motor on the screw controled by the
computer would make it completely automated. It doesn't have to be precise
like a stepper, a regular cheap little DC motor would work fine.
