I actually asked whats_his_face from Online communications at
PC-95 uphere last year and he said that S39=1 to 15 is the range
that can be used but seeing as 9 is the lowest and 15 is the
highest, you should only use these.
He only told me about S39 and did not tell me to use it with any
other register (as you are) maybe that is why it did not do anything
for me back then.

I told Joe F. that this is SUPPOSE to work with the Aust version,
and he told me that it was Bogus and there was no such command for
the US version.
Both these blokes are as bad as each other, We cant believe any of
them.
So as it stands, I am more likely to believe in the results from
your tests and mine.
I have some results here of hooking two internal Couriers up (with a
2 metre cable (standard default AT&F1) and then doing the same with
Your S39=9 S56=2. There are ever so slight differences.
